The Carrot Weather app is coming to Android, bringing with it a host of useful weather-tracking features — and developer Brian Mueller’s
human-hating AI character, Carrot, who will help give you the forecast
while also mocking your suffering at the hands of those outside
conditions. Lifehacker first reported on the expansion to Android.
According to Mueller, the app is available now on Android
in an early access, open beta. A final 1.0 release still a few weeks
out as the developer works to polish up a few features (including a home
screen widget).
The Android version of Carrot Weather looks like it’s
bringing all the good features from the iOS version, including the
deeply customizable interface, and the option to pick either Dark Sky or
Weather Underground as your preferred source for weather data.
Like the iOS version, Carrot Weather for Android offers a
paid Premium subscription that unlocks additional features, like the
aforementioned home screen widget and animated radar/satellite maps.
Unlike the iOS version, which is a paid app, the Android version is a
free, ad-supported app, although paying for the Premium Club membership
will also get rid of ads.
